In her spare time, you will find Dr. Zina exploring all the beauty the west coast has to offer with her husband and three young children. She is an avid traveller, yogi, novice skier, and self-proclaimed coffee-addict.
meet Dr. Zina Alkafaji
As a mother and a healthcare provider, Dr. Zina understands that children require extra care, time, and attention during a dental visit, as well as a comfortable, child-centered setting. At Lolo Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Zina has created the perfect environment for meeting these needs. As a parent of young children, she knows how difficult it can be to instill good eating and brushing habits in the home, and has lots of ideas for parents on how to ensure healthy smiles for their own families. She is a strong believer in prevention rather than intervention, and chooses to take a conservative approach whenever possible.
After graduating from the College of Dentistry at the University of Illinois- Chicago, she practiced general dentistry for two years before pursuing her true passion- dentistry for children. Dr. Zina realized that the magic of children kept her enchanted and challenged everyday at work. She wanted to become an expert in children and their little teeth so she spent 3 extra years studying at the University of British Columbia in order to become a certified specialist in pediatric dentistry. During this time she also received a Masters in Craniofacial Science by completing research in pediatric sedation.
In her spare time, Dr. Shannon likes playing volleyball, running, skiing and yoga. She can name all of the My Little Pony characters and several Pokemon. She is also learning to speak French (beginner) and loves to practice!
meet Dr. Shannon Munsie
Dr. Shannon Munsie is from Vancouver and is happy to be back to contribute to the community where she grew up. Before coming to Lolo, Dr. Shannon lived in Ottawa and was a staff pediatric dentist at CHEO (the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario).
It was no surprise to those who know her that when she became a dentist, she specialized in pediatric dentistry. She loves to help children and their families learn to master the dental experience. She did her training at UBC (BSc and Masters), Western (DDS), SickKids Hospital Toronto (hospital residency), and the University of Washington for her Masters degree and specialty certificate in pediatric dentistry. She is experienced working with children who are medically complex, with cleft lip and palate and autism spectrum disorder. She has also lectured on these topics to help other dentists in providing quality care and education to their pediatric patients and families.
She has a gentle approach with her patients and believes that going to the dentist should be a positive experience for children and their grown-ups.
In her spare time, Andrea loves hiking throughout BC, fishing on beautiful lakes and camping with her family and their rescue cat, Max!
Certified Dental Assistant
Andrea grew up on Vancouver Island and moved to the North Shore with her family in 1997. As a certified dental assistant on the North Shore for 17 years Andrea is committed to excellent patient care. She is thrilled to join Dr. Zina’s practice and be a part of helping maintain the beautiful smiles of the children we treat.
In her spare time, Jane enjoys photography, travelling, cooking and exploring life on the coast.
Certified Dental Assistant
Jane was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan and is a graduate of the Certified Dental Assistant program at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. She loves working with children and has spent the majority of her of her career with children’s dental offices. She loves doing her part with the Lolo Pediatrics family to make patients feel comfortable the moment they enter the office to the moment they leave. Her goal is to provide quality care to her patients and educate them to be the healthiest they can be.
In her spare time, Emily loves to cook and experiment with recipes for her family and friends.
Emily is from Somerset, England and moved to North Vancouver with her husband in 2016. They originally planned to travel across Canada, however after falling in love with the north shore, they never left!
She has an eleven year background of childcare and education and is excited to work alongside the new families visiting us at Lolo’s Pediatric Dentistry.

change your child’s toothbrush frequently!
- Worn out brushes can wear away at enamel, cause plaque buildup and will not clean the teeth properly, leading to cavities.
- Bacteria builds up in the bristles so changing their toothbrush every 3 months promotes good oral health.
- If your child is exposed to sickness, it is recommended to change their toothbrush so they don’t get re-exposed to the bacteria.
